If you are the sort of JSA fan that would like a 40s/50s JSA book then you are in for a little treat here. Principally Jay Garrick and Alan Scott are the leads which I think will make most people happy based on the general response to the Willingham run.

Guggenheim has the JSA back to dealing with their own legacies in how their individual efforts impact the world and even follow them through history. Thankfully the questions and answers aren’t provided to us all pureed into easy baby food.

Kolins art is colored and inked painting-like and is styled to evoke a vintage quality that, with it’s anatomical golden-age-esque quirks, works really well for this team of older heroes. I can’t wait to see where this is going as the rest of the team becomes more involved.

These first two issues of the new creative team have cemented my decision to drop the JSA All-Stars book,by Sturges and Williams III, as I now remember how far that book is from what the JSA has always been about for me. This is certainly my pick of the week.
