This book felt like Robinson had never before read a Green Arrow story. It's tempting to look at a character whose whole method of operating revolves around archery, and assume that character must be a "hunter" by nature. But, really, that's never been GA's character. He was the liberal of the super-hero world. Often by his own very loud proclamations. To have him suddenly, in mental monologue, declare he's never been a super-hero, but always been a hunter is ret-conning the character without even bothering to change any of his historical details.
The entire "Cry for Justice" story, now in clear hindsight, was obviously just a set-up to get GA to this point. Arsenal and his daughter Lian were just props in this story. Not real characters at all. Arsenal is only in a smattering of panels before he gets maimed. And Lian doesn't make an appearance until she's a corpse. For the reader, there is absolutely no emotional resonance to this story unless you happen to have read a story or two in the past that did, in fact, develop their respective characters at all. But for Robinson to slough that off to previous works is simply lazy writing.
It's a really bad sign for this creative team that I am hoping this whole story-line turns out to be a dream sequence.

@SoylentGL
I cant quite agree with your statement that GA isnt a hunter, often he compares himself to a hunter. In the longbow series he often stated he was a hunter and same can be said for the time he spent in Seattle.
I also feel thathis "never being a superhero" was a throw back to his day as an anti establishment kind of person.
Anyway your perspective is an interesting one.
Yeah, as Barabbas notes, this IS in line with the Mike Grell vision of the character, so there’s definitely a link. Whether or not I think this story "earned" that link to the Grell "Longbow Hunters" era is another matter.
Also, Robinson didn’t write this issue — it was JT Krul.
