As with last month's issue (#44), the more the JSA and related characters (Jade) are featured the more Robinson's knack for crafting modern lore shines. By the last quarter of the issue most the current JLA wasn't really a part of the interactions. Honestly, as a JSA fan, that doesn't bother me but I could understand it bothering those not picking it up for the present and coming crossover. I am happy to read Jade's return fleshed out more here as we get to the whys more quickly than the other eleven so far. It will be interesting to see if the level of crisis that Jade's "vehicle" for return has brought remains for this whole JSA/JLA crossover and what it is all pointing to. Clearly, Mark Bagley's is getting much more comfortable drawing all of these characters, making the cover, which I suspect is older than much of the interior art, the issue's weakest art point. There are a few splash pages that really impressed me. His take on as Batman still comes off as more child-man looking and not intimidating than he should even with it being Dick and not Bruce. I plan to stick around for the whole crossover.
