The solid start from issue #1 continues in a solid, but otherwise unremarkable, second issue. The new JLI has their first major encounter with a potentially world-threatening foe, but find that they are far from a team yet.

We get more from the characters that were established in the previous issue, and a few others are a bit more vocal this time. The series setup is more or less done, and this issue is more about revealing a little about how these characters interact: that is, not well. But nothing stands out about this situation, no relationships are outstandingly interesting or entertaining. They are simply adequate – like the art.

This book does get to the action, though, so for those who want to see the team doing things with their powers, it’s here, and quicker than some other team-up books in the 52. But aside from some of those minor advantages, some stilted character writing and a general lack of anything truly impressive means there are better books out there.
