I haven’t enjoyed a Justice League book this much since The Tower Of Babel storyline.  What little I know of most of these characters I know more from the animated series than comics, but this title has inspired me to track down the JLI trade paperbacks.  Winnick does an admirable job of sprinkling Giffen’s humor throughout this book while still making this a serious team book.

Lopresti and Ryan’s art also mesh well together, and with the storyline.  The layouts are simple, the lines are clean, but they convey a lot of emotion in this book without making me think “there’s a lot of emotion in this book”.  This is, by far, my favorite of the Brightest Day titles, thus far, and is becoming one of my favorite overall superhero books of the moment.

  1. Yea!  I am so glad the good stuff keeps on rolling.

  2. Maybe it’s the cynic in me but I keep bracing myself for this to take a dive in quality but it’s starting to seem like this is just going to keep being a great book.  Thanks for the review.

  3. It’s been fantastic. Captain Atom’s "Be brave, soldier. Be brave," was a nice emotional moment. I loved the Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire JL and have been skeptical about Winick doing this book, but it’s actually been fascinating and a lot of fun.
