It's nice that Mr. Robinson doesn't feel the need to shoe horn in
action into the book, but the fact that this book was nothing but
talking heads working in the phrase "JUSTICE!!!111" kind of bored the
living piss out of me.
Oh, that actually is a bit harsh, I was more than fine with the banter between Hal and Ollie, and it was pretty cool having the silver age heroes all back together, but the rest of the characters, hoo boy.
I know it's kind of hard to come up with unique ways for characters to meet each other but the whole Mikaal and Congorilla stuff just made me cringe at it. It was like watching something written by Jim Jarmuusch played by 6 yr olds. How sad is it when I'm not entertained by a gorilla flying a plane?
The mutual admiration between Ray and Jay was nails on a chalkboard bad.It was just so stiff and stilted. Yes, Jay is old and Ray's life has been shitty lately, but it would have felt more natural if they wrote it down as a screen play and passed it over to the other to read.
I don't need only action in my books to be entertained, but by god when there's 2 heroes fighting 10 or so villains one page would have been nice. It might have been something the artist could shine on. Lord knows he didn't do anything that made the talking heads this issue seem too dynamic.
