I mentioned in my review last month that this book was growing on me, and this month’s issue is no different. I am hard pressed to think that any other book will outshine this one this week (although, I still have about 12 of them to read). First let’s talk about the story. Sometimes, I find Geoff John’s storytelling to be a bit drawn out, but I think this story is crackling with energy and a brisk pace. He’s doing a great job of giving the reader enough to move the action along without weighing it down. He also does an amazing job of giving the reader some great character moments. There were several times that I laughed out loud from the dialogue between the characters, and there were several moments where I cheered, especially when Aquaman shows what a badass he is. Added to the story is the AMAZING art of Jim Lee. I’ve always dug his art, but I find this to be some of the best work of his career. His panels are packed and his storytelling is wonderful. The choices that he and Johns make for splash pages are fantastically paced, and I found myself saying, “Whoa!” several times as I read the book. I was so pumped when Darkseid finally showed up in the book, and when the final page came about, I found myself wanting the next issue more than anything else. This series has grown into one of my favorites from the DCU reboot, which is great because JLA should be DC’s go to book.

  1. Goddamnit! I hit the publish button before doing the ratings. Obviously, I give the book a 5/5. I can’t wait until they give us the edit review option back.

I wonder how many people will not read this post and give me shit for writing a glowing with low numbers.

  2. I didn’t have a chance to read your glowing…but you gave this book a 1/1!? I have some poop for you, please send me your mailing address.

    • Make that mistake number 2 for today. I meant that I gave this book a “glowing review.” Meant to give it a 5/5. I really shouldn’t write review before I have my morning coffee.

  3. Mistakes happen!

  4. It’s interesting: i disagree with absolutely every point you made! well I’m glad you enjoyed it
