Let me start off by saying that I sort of did not see Millar working with Quitely specially at Image coming (I was expecting Alex Ross before anyone). This story feels refreshing because the main focus is not the over the top action these two are capable of bringing to a page, but how it is so character driven it makes you feel like you’re watching a prime time soap opera that doesn’t make you feel like a weirdo when watching it, the characters are so dynamic they almost feel alive. On to the story, though its is the second issue and they haven’t really gone into full detail as to who is who aside from the main cast and what the main motives are all we know is that times are worse than ever before and even superheroes have baggage that they must endure on the day to day basis.
if this book does anything it expands into the aspects of the superhero, it tares away every conception of what it means to be a “Super-men” and it shows you the emotional pain and drama only a strongman can withstand. Now add that with elements of jealousy and a god-complex and you have the recipe for an eye opening book.
and to all the “nay sayers” out there who rather “wait until the movie comes out” this is one book you don’t want to miss out on.

P.S- Frank Quitely made himself into the star of the story.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

  1. Agree. But what more than: “On to the story, though its is the second issue and they haven’t really gone into full detail as to who is who aside from the main cast and what the main motives are all we know is that times are worse than ever before and even superheroes have baggage that they must endure on the day to day basis.” do you want out of a second issue?
