Whew.

That really sums up how I feel about this issue, and about the Kingdom Come/Magog storyline in general — it’s been a hell of a ride.

In this issue we see some of the more negative effects of Gog’s ‘healings’, and see the parallels between his religion and others get handled very well. This is obviously all setting up for the big reveal (which is apparently supposed to come to a head in the next issue of Justice Society of America), but we do get a lot done. There was some nice characterization, and there were some seeds planted that I think will effect the book in the next arc and beyond.

This issue felt like an introduction issue somewhat. With the name/bio boxes before some of the characters, and Citizen Steel explaining how the steel interacts with the ‘power he can’t control’. Maybe I was the only one who saw that, though.

Not really an amazing issue, not a terrible one either. I’m favorable of it, and it’s probably my favorite of the JSA specials, but it was nothing that blew me away. I’m excited for this storyline to be over soon, as much as I’ve been enjoying it. With the ‘misunderstanding’ between KC Superman and Superman in the last issue, and now the discussion KC Superman had with Wonder Woman, it seems like the end of this arc might have some hefty ramifications.

You definitely need to read this book more than any of the other specials that have been released if you intend to follow Justice Society of America. Recommended.
