Damn I love this comic.  This issue is a perfect example of the blending of the horror and western genres.  In this issue alone we get great fight scenes, creepy villains, brutal killings, and yes… some comedic conversation between Hex’s companions.  To accompany the gritty western/horror story, we have the equally dark and gritty art of Cristiano Cucina.  His panel layout flows well and make me feel like I’m watching a movie.  After reading I went back over the fight scenes just to take in the art.  I’m a firm believer in the done-in-one issues of Jonah Hex but this longer arc has been really really good.  This is definitive Hex and will go down has one of the best Jonah Hex stories told.  Palmiotti And Gray continue to make Jonah Hex one of the best comics around and definitely the best modern western comic.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. Amen, I agree with everything you said.  Loved this issue!

  2. This story arc has me psyched for the new movie coming out.  I don’t want to get my expectations up but hope it will be good.
