It took me a while to figure out what exactly it was about Jersey Gods that I loved so much. But at the end of the day I think it’s because everything about this book is fun.

The story balances the big cosmic adventures of Barock, a god from the war-torn planet Neboron, with the every-day misadventures of Zoe, cub fashion reporter for a local paper in New Jersey. This week’s issue wrapped up the first story arc and set the stage for what’s to come for Zoe and Barock. And we finally got to see the two of them get together — squee!

The art in this book is simply fantastic. You’ve got these bright colors from out of a Crayola box that perfectly complement the bold, Kirby-esque pencils. Visually, the book screams fun; I smiled just flipping through the issue.

Jersey Gods #5 was the most fun I had with a comic this week. It’s definitely worth picking up.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
