iZombie #2

Those that have read the first issue of iZombie are already aware of the high concept that Roberson and Allred are trying to achieve. The problem with something like this is that it can take some time to build up to the point where things get really interesting. I have a feeling, though, those who wait will be rewarded with something unique, and special.

iZombie #2 seemed quite a bit different than first in that it jumped around to SO many different sets of characters quite a lot. It was hard to tell who the main character was (which is obviously Gwen, the zombie) throughout the comic, but all the different groups of people were filled with distinct, intriguing characters that the reader can start to like or dislike. What sets iZombie apart is the excellent use of colors throughout the first two issues, and especially issue #2. The cover gives a great glimpse of what the reader can expect inside. Allred does an excellent job here, and it alone can be worth the price of admission.

iZombie #2 is a good purchase for anyone who enjoyed the first issue, and is patient enough to allow the story to build up. The reader shouldn’t expect to be blown away, but rather more of another “setup” issue. With something that has such a high concept, I can forgive it if it takes more than a couple issues to get things set for the future.
