Irredeemable has been coming out for an entire year now and I haven't read one issue that was below average yet, while the majority of them have been awesome.  This is the first book I read on top of my stack this week and for GOOD REASON.  I feel reluctant to bag & board it because I'm probably going to read it again once I finally get through the few other issues I bought this week that I'm not too terribly excited about. 

After I just got finished with reading the latest volume of The Boys (volume six), I was so glad to read a comic book that had artwork that wasn't rushed out by a bunch of fill-in artists for some reason, and I really hope it stays that way!!  I don't know if it is the pencils, inks, colors, or any combination, but the artwork in Irredeemable ALWAYS looks great.  I'm not a big artist buff, so I don't know much about Peter Krause's previous credentials, but it is not hard to see that this guy has a career ahead of him (as long as Plutonian doesn't take his hands off with those laser beams that come out of his eyes, that is)!!!  That's not too take away from the other folks who are on inks and colors either.  It is not hard to tell that every artist involved in this book has AND continues to put much effort into this series. 

Mark Waid continues to keep things interesting as well.  There were three major events right here in this one issue!!  Plutonian kills his parents while abandoning his mentally ill brother to fend for himself, Qubit gets sucked in to another dimension to keep the demon company, and the rest of the team gets captured by what's left of the US Army!  If the past couple issues weren't letting off as much steam as before, then this installment of Irredeemable certainly makes up for lost time.  I will be there on the Wednesday #13 comes out to see how shit pans out even if I have to shoplift my copy of this book because I can't afford the four dollar cover price because this title is THAT GOOD!!  This is my current second favorite comic book series under Morrison's Batman & Robin and it's almost just as good.  There were a couple months were I liked it even more, and that is a BOLD STATEMENT!!

As of right now, I don't see any means of an end to this story and I hope Mark Waid is no hurry to get there.  I'm having way too much fun with this book and look forward to it more and more, month in and month out.  I can't wait to write about how much I'm enjoying #13 next time...
