There is something to be said about a character with well-written repartee (sp?), and this is what makes Matt Fraction’s writing and Salvador’s surprisingly warm penciling efforts work so amazingly well. These guys are the perfect batch of pancake and butter/maple syrup on a crisp, chilly autumn morning surrounded by your best drinking buddies. They make this whole thing work — even with the surrounding events of Fear Itself.

So, maybe some of these characters look like actors. Who cares!?! In fact, I like it even more because of the likeness. None of these likeness issues steal anything from the story and, in fact, give it a kind of personality that makes Salvador’s work more than it has been at any time he did the X-Men (which is usually the example we compare his current work with)…

Maybe not a big, round 5/5, but a strong. 5-ish 4/5!!
