Not only is this title my favourite Marvel comic but Fraction and Larroca have managed to turn Tony Stark into one of my favourite characters as well.

I see a lot of complaints about the lack of action and how there is too much talking: this is my favourite thing about it. INVINCIBLE IRON MAN doesn’t need action; I’ve already seen Iron Man fight other Iron Men hundreds of times before. It’s essentially the same thing over and over. But what I haven’t seen is someone like Tony Stark gathering a group of like-minded individuals to save the world; not by being superheroes, but by being creators.

This issue had a lot of talking and I loved it. Fraction doesn’t hold back; he will have characters talk for pages about technology I’ve never heard of and yet by the end of it, I somehow feel smarter. It feels like I’m being rewarded intellectually for reading a comic book, and I like it when that happens.

There’s also a lot of criticism of Larroca’s art. I understand that having certain characters look like certain actors you know of can take you out of the story but this doesn’t bother me. Maybe because I’m so drawn in by the dialogue, I don’t pay enough attention to the art. But I think we can all admit that this guy draws some sweet looking robots.

This comic has been on a roll ever since “World’s Most Wanted” and it doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down anytime soon. There’s so much going on… Detroit Steel and Hammer, Maria Hill, Pepper’s new “heart,” Stark’s flashbacks, The Mandarin’s inevitable return… Fraction manages to juggle all these ideas perfectly, making INVINCIBLE IRON MAN one of the comics I look forward to the most every month.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
