I wasn’t all that thrilled with the first two books of this arc. I was down on the Art and the story pacing in the last issue. I thought it was rushed and segmented into dozens of small panels with a whole bunch of scatter shot artwork along with some scatter shot story. This was not that and wonderful. All the focus in the issue is directed to a single long fight with big splash pages and big bold panels and it was glorious.

I think this is what Ryan Ottley and (the guy that helped this issue) are best at. Big larger than life centerpiece action shots. Go back in look at the past few issues that try and minimize each scene and add detail and go back and look at this issue. Go ahead I will wait…. Ok see what I mean? The cartoonish art style, in the best sense of the term, is perfect for a book about a superhero. This is billed as “the Greatest Superhero book on the Market” right? So why not draw and write it that way? This book is back to basics for the series in that it doesn’t try to change or embrace the median but embrace all the things that make Cape books great! Big fights, bold. Loud, large scale artwork and all those POWS, KRACKS, and ZAPS that define the genre. A modern well plotted well drawn superhero fight is what you are getting here not an event book squashed into 90 pages or 16 panel “fast forward” pages. POW ZZZZZIP BLAMMO fools.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
