I was a bit nervous going into this one. I was afraid that we'd be getting a huge catch-up issue since the cover said fifty-FIRST issue. Luckily, that's not what we got. Yes, its a great jumping on point, but it isn't just about that. If anything, its much more of a transitional issue since we get to see Mark dealing with not being part of the Government.
What sold this issue wasn't the action, it was all the great character moments. This issue finally made Oliver feel like a real character. The whole "Omni-Boy" or "Kid Omni-Man" conversation was awesome. Having Mark finally break it to Oliver that their dad did some terrible stuff on Earth was a great little moment.
Another quaint little character moment was the Atom-Eve/Rex-Splode confrontation. They're relationship has been a goldmine since the series started and its nice to see it evolving instead of just remaining the hated ex's.
Enough with the story, now onto the art. I really like the new inker. The art just looked so clean in this issue. It just worked. The panels flowed effortlessly, and the colors were amazing. I hope the art stays this good. Plus, gotta love that Jim Lee cover.
Here's to 50 more great issues of Invincible!
p.s. The Invinciboy thing was hilarious. I always wondered how characters knew it was the same guy when they changed costumes.

Atom Eve and non-Jerk Rexplode was an interesting moment. I wonder if Kirman will be sowing the seeds of drama to come.
I’m hoping for it. So far he’s kept most of the relationships pretty unpredictable, except for Mark and Eve. It just turned into one of those "how long will it take" things. Ya know?
Yeah. The "unrequited love" angle is pretty tricky. The longer it gets drawn out, the more impatient we, the readers, get. But the moment they get together, we the readers miss the lack of romantic tension.
I don’t think its going to be any less tense. Kirkman’s got a way of turning things we’ve seen 800 times into something interesting, hence most of this series.
