Forget Blackest Night.
Forget Battle For The Cowl.
Nevermind all of this Dark Reign stuff.
Morrison & Quitely on Batman? Who cares?
The real news in comics is BOOM! Kids.
I can say, without hyperbole, that these books are what I'm most excited for this year, and somehow I didn't even know about the line until a few weeks ago.
The Incredibles, Wall-E, The Muppet Show & Monsters, Inc. all being transformed into comic books? Genius.
The two that are due out this month, The Muppet Show and The Incredibles seem to have gotten pretty good press, but I'm really hoping that people support these books, buy the issues, buy the trades, buy the issues for any children in their life, etc., etc. This, in my opinion, more than anything, is what the comic book world needs. More all-ages books that are fun enough for adults to get into as well. Books that don't have to be super serious or GRIMDARK, don't have to have a huge event to boost sales, don't have to tie-in with any other books, and most importantly, don't dumb down the content for children.
As far as this actual comic book was concerned, it was great. I've always been a huge fan of The Incredibles and honestly I don't know why it's taken this long for it to be turned into a comic book. It just makes sense. Seeing all the characters portrayed correctly and drawn beautifuly, as well as getting an old-school superhero story mixed with the beginnings of a love story, and a bigger over-arching story is exactly what I wanted. I could not have asked for a better Incredibles comic book.
5/5 without a doubt.
