I liked everything except for the basic premise: Why is he pushing
Skaar into one ridiculous fight after another? To teach him some
valuable life lessons? To prepare him to be able to actually kill the
Hulk? I am not certain and therefore the logic of Banner's actions escapes me. Maybe it will make more sense later but I am dubious.
This issue was much more interesting than the previous, let's just puch-it-out Juggernaut one. We saw cool Banner and Wolverine interactions and some psychological Daken vs. Skaar (in between physical Daken vs. Skaar). And Banner was actually quite chilling at the end. I don't think anyone has hinted at such a dark Bruce before, or at least if they did it was always repressed into one of his Hulk personalities. And of course the ending page was a definite Yes! moment for any true Hulk fan.
The art in this issue was a nice mixture of Olivetti and Giuseppe Camuncoli, Olivetti basically does the intro and some Wolverine/Banner stuff, while Camuncoli handles the rest. While an obvious change from one to the other, I thought it blended well. Olivetti is a master of the muscle-bound hero splash, while Camuncoli is really a better storyteller, so there is a nice synergy there.
There was also a New She-Hulk story. Not much new happens in these 8 pages. She is still really pissed at the surviving Gamma ladies, who are now scared. That is all.
