Absolutely Beautiful. I can’t lie, I still drool over McFarlane’s work. This series made me rediscover my love for his work and made me wish I hadn’t sold my Spawn collection.

This book is really about just that, too. The art. The story so far has just been ridiculously awful. The dialogue is clunky, and (I’m gonna pull a Ron here and bitch about continuity) it still cheeses me off that the 16-page Image United Prelude story had Dragon meeting Fotress and then in #1 they “re-met” for the first time, because Dragon had no idea who the hell he was. Poor, poor editorial mistake.

Aaaanyway, back to the art. This book, while certain panels aren’t the best, delivers when it needs to do so, the SPLASH PAGES. I could just drool over the back to back spreads with characters from each creator on both. and the final page drawn by McFarlane is badass.  Yes this book was 8 MONTHS LATE. But I’ll take it if we can keep getting the amazingly gorgeous work of all these artists.

***UPDATE***: I think I get it. Perhaps Kirkman is writing in a early 90s style. Art over story.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 5 - Excellent
