I’m really enjoying these 70th anniversary comics, for the most part. This one and the Cap one were very interesting stories. I know it’s a little hamfisted, but I like that Jim ended up dating a black woman There seems a lot of room to wiggle with Jim Hammond as he hasn’t really been utilized as much as the other Golden Age characters. I like that they threw in a lot of “old marvel money” into this story and mentioned stuff like the Bugle. I know it’s easy, but it did give the story a lot of charm. You can tell the writer wanted to used the Oh the Humanity line when he was writing a Zeppelin disaster, but didn’t for some reason. Of course that beggars the question what would happen if a man who’s power is flame got near something that was so filled with Hydrogen. Unfortunately, the writer didn’t feel the need to show us. The back up story read like all golden age stories, poorly, but it was interesting look at the old way of comics.
