Fantastic art highlights this newest issue of Hulk #23. With a plethora of artists in here, McGuiness, Herb Trimpe, Tim Sale, Dale Keown, Sal Buscema, Ian Churchill, Leinil Yu, John Romita JR, and Mike Deodato, this book is gorgeous. Unfornutately, because of the number of artists, it turns into a pin-up book rather than a meaty issue. Loeb really just retreads familiar territory here, with Thunderbolt Ross/Hulk encounters throughout the years. It’s not terrible, and I’m certainly glad they didn’t turn this into a mini-series with each issue having a different artist and giving a full 22-pages to flashbacks, but overall I wish we’d have gotten fewer artists and more “oomph” from the story.
