HOWLING COMMANDOS #1

I have no history with Nick Fury other than with the latest Avengers books and Civil War and Secret Invasion. But, I have recently gotten into war comics with Garth Ennis’ Battlefields minis and the Storming Paradise series. Seeing this on the shelf and noticing John Paul Leon’s artwork I was sold. This is a 40page one-shot that felt like it was a whole lot of fun to make. It’s jam-packed with nazi-killing action, sexy commie spies, atomic bombs, and giant warbots. JPL draws the hell out of this thing and newcomer to comics writing Jesse Alexander writes as much into forty pages as I think any writer could. I’ve been missing good one-and-dones lately and this one is making me want more. There’s a definite beginning and a definite ending. If you like fun, you’ll love this book. If you don’t, then no one can help you my friend.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. I had my store pull this, but then I realized that since I was also buying last week’s books that $4 might be something to pass on. Fortunately, my store had a ton of copies, so I should be able to pick it up next week. Your review has me excited!
