I always like to check out the #1s that capture my interest with the concept, and I stick around on the well-executed ones. The #0 issues was the reason Hoax Hunters made my list to try this month and I’m glad I did. I’ll be checking #2 out.

Here’s what I liked – I liked the concept as I already said, the characterization of Jack, and his mysterious notes about higher-ups and parallel universes. I do love a good parallel universe. Fringe anyone? Anyway, I also liked that there was a lot of elements set up. We meet the Hoax Hunters out on the road, but also Lauren (an Oracle-like character perhaps?) and the interesting chappy that is Durand.

Here’s what I liked less – I thought the art in the #0 issue was more to my taste, although I’ve read people saying that they love this art so that’s almost certainly just personal to me. I think I liked the #0 issue’s energy, if art can have energy. I think the cleaner Medellin art here was good, though, just cleaner I guess. Also this book needs more Murder like a song needs more cowbell. The visuals of Murder also contributed to the awesome art in the #0 so the two critiques could go hand in hand.

A very solid start to yet another promising Image series.
