While this is technically a stand alone issue, you'll need to know John Constantine's status quo (which I didn't know going in and I'm not quite sure I understand). That aside, this issue was ok. I'm used to having a John Constantine use his cunning and attitude to overcome his latest obstacle. This doesn't happen here and it's a bit of a bummer. Art wise it's good to see Bisley again. His style is a class on its own. To be fair though, it's much more muted and dim than I remember his work. The issue takes place in a prison but you'd think it'd be brighter - florescent bulbs and such. If you're a fan of Bisley, give it a whirl. If you're looking to jump on Hellblazer, you may want to wait another month.
