I really have no good reason to pick this issue up. I don’t even own an
X-box and I didn’t pick up the first series and I loved both the
creators on that, but Bendis and Maleev together are not as enticing as
Peter David by himself to me.

The unfortunate truth of this, however,
is that Peter David did nothing to put his stamp on this other than
name the planet the fighting is going to take place on after his
daughter.

There was nothing quirky or unique. It was just another space
war story with no emotional touch stone.

I can see how people that take
pleasure in “teabagging” the fallen enemies in their game would like
the jock feel of these space marines, but I didn’t.

This felt like the
comic equivalent of Starship Troopers. Technically proficient but not
for me. I doubt I’ll be picking up issue two.
