hack/slash is a guilty pleasure for me. it’s like gilmore girls with it’s snappy dialogue and strong female characters. except in hack/slash, they also beat the shit out of things with baseball bats.

hack/slash has been going through a lot of major stories recently, so the “slasher of the month” dynamic of the story was refreshing. it also had a wonderful twist.

for the first couple of pages, i wasn’t sure how i felt about the art. it looked like some fan comic you’d see on deviantart. however, around page 4 or 5, i was hooked. there’s a great little panel where cassie is walking away from vlad, and the detail on vlad’s mask is fantastic. i was loving the art by the end of the story.

the back-up was just kind of there. it wrapped up some things from the last story arc in the main book, but there’s not much to say.

i had a lot of fun reading this. a lot. i highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about this series. the majority of the book is made up of a one-and-done story that anyone can enjoy without having to know a lot about the characters.
