GUERILLAS #2 (OF 9)

With the ending of the last issue being as cool and shocking as it was, I really didn’t think this book could go anywhere… in fact, if this week had been a heavier comic week for me, I probably would’ve passed on it completely.  I just didn’t see it keep the high quality of the first issue…. not could that ending (as cool as it was) lead anywhere worth reading.

I was wrong.  Well, partially… it’s not the first issue.  There’s no more Shaymalan-esque twist at the end.  What we get is pretty is above average comic book fare.  And I say “above average” simply cause I initially wrote this off and had low expectations that this exceeded – not by leaps and bounds, but by a nice healthy skip and a jump.

If you liked the first issue, this is worth a read.

(a note about my numerical grading:  I tend to grade harsher than most reviewers here on iFanboy.  Simply because I don’t think anyone here grades on fair basis… everything tends be way too high or too low.  If everything is graded 4’s and 5’s it takes away from the truly special books – a 3 is a slightly above average book, and what 90% of the 4’s and 5’s I see on here should be.  So, to me a 3 is B-, a 4 is an B+/A- and a five is a grand slam A+).

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good

Comments

  1. I grade the same way.  I rarely give 1s or 5s.  I almost wish this was a straight-up war comic.  The scenes with the soldiers interacting are the best parts.

  2. Ratings are subjective.  What’s not fair to you might be irrelevant to others.
