I officially love this book. Great characters, alot happens, and it's always fun and funny. Before I started reading it I don't think i'd ever even heard of Star-Lord, but he's becoming one of my favorite characters, and his lead story moved along nicely and got me up to date with what I needed to know about what was happening. Every issue of this book feels like a good jumping on point, but you don't really notice that unless you think about it. I could have used more story about the other characters as well, but there are only so many pages in an issue I guess, and it's not like Abnett and Laning don't use those pages to maximum impact. I'm enjoying the Rocket Raccoon led team of 'replacement' guardians almost as much as I enjoyed the original team. Hopefully when (if?) they all get back together the new guys will be sticking around too. They could spin this into two books and i'd happily buy both. My only complaints with the book were small. 1) No Drax, and 2) Major Victory's debrief panels seemed out of place, almost like they were thrown in as an after thought to keep the gimmick going. All in all very solid. The cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe is quietly becoming my favorite part of it.

Does this tie in with Nova?
I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure it spins out of Nova. I read Nova in trades for the moment so i’m not quite caught up yet.
This does not tie in directly with Nova. However, it occurs in the same ‘micro-universe’, as interactions with the Kree, the Phalanx, the Skrulls, and others are common to both books. Abnett and Lanning seem to have a special facility with stories about the politics of Marvel deep space.
