Top 5 Reasons I want my $2.99 back after buying Green Lantern Corps #63

1. Who are they trying to fool? By dividing 20 pages of comic into “FOUR CHAPTERS” does not hide the fact that they had to go to 4 different artists to get this issue out in time. A comic like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen on the other hand can pull that trick and have it come off charming and a homage to comics of old. Here it is annoying.

2. I’m so sick of hearing other “Alien” Corpsmen talk about how much they loath humans when pretty much every supporting alien Green Lantern is bipedal, speaks English (even using human slang), makes their constructs like a human, and pretty much doesn’t do anything “alien” like at all. The Green Lantern Corps reeks human like behavior and actions. The problem is the writers of this series focus so much on Guy, John, and Kyle, that there is no alien magic to be had here. Remember a comic called “Alien Legion” back in the day? Now that was a cool alien police force, with lots of a out of this world stuff happening. It made the most out of having a shitload of different species, each with a story to tell. I am hoping the re-booted GLC this September fixes this problem.

3. Enough with in-fighting between Corpsmen. I’m sick of reading about Kyle not getting along with someone else. Or Guy starting some shit with someone. And please dear God, no more “We need to go against what the Guardians tell us to do. I have lost ALL respect for those little blue dudes because of how they have been written for the last 3 or 4 years. These guys have been around for fucking ages, show them some respect.

4. The art of Chapter Three of this issue. Hey Freddie Williams II, that’s not how you draw Kyle’s mask. I wasn’t sure I was looking at Rayner until 4 pages later when his name is called out.

5. I think four reasons is plenty.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 1 - Poor

Comments

  1. I’d like to be the first to say…”meh”

  2. Agreed. This was absolutely pointless as an issue. Definitely not worth reading. I did like Joe Prado’s art in the first chapter, though.
