Poor Cyborg Superman. No matter what the fellow tries to do, he just can't seem to DIE!! It is a pretty rare concept at DC (not too sure about MARVEL), and I'm glad they don't use it all THAT often either. I really though Cyborg Supes was so close this time, but it turns out that even if Ganthet could have shut the power down by pulling out the newly renovated into Alpha Supe's battery, his ghost likeness could still easily pass on into another machine anyway!! It's like he went through all of that for practically nothing almost!! I'm sure he must have already known that there was a good chance of that happening regardless, you know?
What can you expect from a spin off title though? Although it kinda felt like, "all for nothing in the end," I still had a fun time getting there over the four or five issues since Blackest Night. It's kind of pissing me off that every GL from Earth career has been advancing, and advancing all at the same time though. I mean, aren't any of these characters just regular GL officers anymore? It seems like every character is either Honor Guard of Alpha Lantern now, doesn't it? We never get to see the rookies in action here, and you would think a spin off series would be the place that that would happen, right?
Oh well, I don't know much about this Tony Bedard fellow, but ever since he took over GLC after Blackest Night, these have been some of the best issues of GLC I have ever read, if not the best period! It's about time this series picked up the steam though. Some of us have been waiting a really long time sifting through crappy stories about Guy Gardner's vacation on an alien world beach resort being foiled by some stupid no-gooder nobody gave a fuck about, and the like. This is probably the first time I've really enjoyed this title without it being almost completely tied into the regular GL's current even like Sinestro Corps War or Blackest Night. It's took more then 50 something #s, but GLC is really starting to stand on its on two feet, and I hope it stays that way with the new arc starting next month.
I'm really excited to see where this is going. I'm diggin GLC a bit more than Emerald Warriors, and paying a buck less for the same amount of story pages also!! Emerald Warrior's artwork might come out looking just a bit more shiny and tight (in my opinion), but the pencils, inks, and colors here don't look what people could call anything near, "bad" or, "sloppy" here. I've seen people get away with a lot worse at MARVEL (now that I've been digging into a lot of MARVEL back issues lately to get caught up on some stuff). I think SECRET INVASION's artwork looked like complete shit compared to what I'm getting right here in DC's Green Lantern Corps for a buck less an issue, so I definitely don't know why anybody could complain that they're not getting so much bang for their damn buck buying this title.
Another WIN for DC this week. I would most definitely give GLC #52 POTW status if I hadn't given it to an ass kicking issue of Batman: Streets OF Gotham already!! DC just has to get a few more of their ducks in a row, and MARVEL might just start coming in second place real soon, guys!!
...and that's all the NEWS is FIT to print for now, everybody.
