It’s true in almost all things in every way of life that you can’t simply keep up a strenous pace forever.  It’s the reason pace yourself is really a perfect phrase for anyone burning their candle at both ends.  More than Green Lantern or Blackest Night itself Green Lantern Corps is burning itself out at both ends.  With a 8 month event you have to wonder how can Tomasi keep this pace.  This is a war being fought on multiple fronts with mulitple leads and it’s up to this book to keep the central war alive.  Green Lantern is Jordan’s book, but this is the Green Latnern’s book.

Sometimes you read a comic book, and you finish it and you wonder if you really read 22 pages.  It goes fast and has a lot of story in it, but it doesn’t really say anything beyond these guys are in serious  trouble.  I sometimes feel when reading Blackest Night that Johns is giving a lot for Tomasi to do each issue almost like a to do list your boss leaves when their gone.  Dear Pete,  please take care of the Alpha Lanterns, Kyle Rayner, bust up Guy, and buy some lemon pepper while at the store.  Tomasi does a great job of doing this, but you have to wonder how long can this pace be kept up.

The true star and really the winner of the “Hell Yeah” award is Salaak for putting the Alpha Lanterns in their place and quoting Guy while doing it.  Like all great tight asses Salaak would either be put in his place or shown to be a true hero at heart.  I can’t say at this point if sending the ring to Mogo work with the overall plan the Black Lanterns.  It’s sometimes easy to forget how early into this we still are as part 3 of 8 of Blackest Night comes out next weeks.  These battles may all be a red herring or we may just have to wait to breath for 5 months.
