I didn’t know all that much about Guy Gardner’s origin prior to this zero issue so I can’t speak to any changes in continuity this story brings. I can say that it matches his personality as it’s been depicted: brash but brave and a rebel but always seeking some validation. The reasons for those dichotomies are clear from the start. On the negative, there’s an awful lot of violence here. I’m not opposed to violent stories but it just felt kind of gratuitous with Lanterns being pulled apart and bullets ripping through cops. We don’t actually need to see the flesh get ripped to understand the danger.
