I love this book. Seriously, if you’re a GL fan how can you not? Humor, action, aliens and Sci-Fi, mixed together.
Before Johns’ run ended a common comment I saw was “I hope the next guy doesn’t do all these epics and just does Space Cop stuff”. If that’s you, THIS is that.
Hal is running the GL Corps, and is striving to make that work. Things are shook up for them; their PR rating is record low, Kilowog is Hal’s right hand/secreatary, and we’ve got beachwarmer recuits. Oh, and a prison break of intergalatic psychos.
This is what I wanted and what I think DC needs, new blood. Get people in here who “get” the characters but will shake things up. Venditti and Tan aren’t doing the same thing that Johns and Manke/Reis/Schivier were doing (thank the Monitor) but they grabbed the spirit of it. It’s your favorite flavor served up in new package, not stale at all. This may compete with Flash as my most looked forward to DC book, and I’m excited by that.
