Of any series from any publisher, Green Lantern (thank you Geoff Johns) has been the guiltiest of guilty pleasures since he started writing Hal Jordan back in 2005 — back when he and Carlos Pacheco gave it a go.

Johns can do no wrong with this character. Now, add one of the best pure comic’y comic artists around, Doug Mahnke (he and his buddy, Pat Gleason are neck and neck, as far as I’m concerned), and this book is impossibly good. Ewey… Gooey… come-over-to-the-dark-side Goodness!!!

At issue 12, it is clear the trajectory of this series is well beyond any of the other DC titles, including Batman.

Too bad, Johns will be leaving soon (and Mahnke along with him). So, too, will I be leaving the book. There’s no way anyone else can follow this run.
