The beginning installment of Johns next arc in Green Lantern starts slowly but lays out the story very well. Many have complained about the slow-burn style of this title but it works very well. We don’t get action every three pages we, instead we get plot and character. We are learning to appreciate the Hal Jordan/Sinestro relationship, we get glimpses of Sinestro’s personality, changes in the way Hal’s ring works and a super creepy return of Black Hand. There is also a scene displayed in a beautiful double page spread that shows an amazing amount of stuff from the future. This issue does what Geoff Johns Green Lantern run has always done well: it sets up epic events through brief interludes in action. Another amazing issue.

Story: 5 - Excellent
