What can I say about this book that @ghostmann hasn’t and said better? It’s good, story’s good, arts good. Confession: I was close to dropping this. It felt average to me, and I dont need average books to buy every month. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t anything to write home about IMHO; New villain shows up, beats down hero, frames him and steals his money, family secrets, hero has to rebuild himself. It’s been done, it has and I was alittle bored for the past 4 issues. Why did I stick around? Because theres was a spark, something I couldn’t put my finger on that made me like the book. Maybe it was the potential, maybe it was Jeff Lemire being himself. Whatever, this and Green Lantern are on my monthly pull-list for the foreseeable future.

The Story: I think what bored me about the previous issues were that they were just Foreplay. Foreplay is fine, it has it’s place but you don’t want to make a night of it. This issue gives us the answers, the revelations, the reasons for the past 4 months events. I think that’s what I wanted, just some answers as to what’s going on really. I got what I wanted, and I like it. Hypothetically, you could jump on here even tho is the last book of an arc. Seriously, this book hints at what’s coming and I think you could be caught up in 20 words or less. Yeah, I think 20 words or less. Like I said, everything else was just foreplay, here we get to the good stuff.

Art: I’ve got a new appreciation of Sorrentino both as a reader and an artist. Dude’s got skills, wish I had half of them. He’s given more to work with here and he doesn’t disappoint. If you can, look up his Ifanboy Upstarts article from last week and enjoy some of his highlights. Go on, treat yourself.

This was really good, it’s on my pull-list along with Venditti’s GL and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

    1. Solid review dude – Not sure I said it better but thanks. =)

    2. I kinda had the same problem initially. The previous stories by Lemire were better than Ollie’s read in years but pretty by the books. This was the issue I’d been waiting to read. I’m a longtime fan of Green Arrow and Lemire, but I think that just makes me more critical of the efforts here. His origin is headed in a bold new direction and if the creative team can keep it up I’m excited to see where this goes.
