I jumped on last issue like a lot of people and felt it was good but not great. This one was great.
Lemire is working with a pretty standard set up to be sure – stripped of his wealth, framed for murder, etc., but that’s not a critisism. It’s standard for a reason. It’s fun to see Ollie in this situation, especially with the twist of only having 48 hours to figure things out. We find out that not everything from last issue is as it seemed, get hints regarding the role of “the island”, see how dastardly Komodo is, and get a new sidekick of sorts. There is a lot going on but it never feels muddled. The considerable text gave me my money’s worth, not unessesary exposition. The dialouge was snappy without trying too hard.
And what a difference colouring makes. Sorrentino’s art pops and moves under Marcelo Maidlo excellent work.
I was still on the fence after last issue, now I’m in.

  1. It’s ridiculous how good this series is now. I thought last issue was great, well this one just floored me. Bravo Lemire and Sorrentino!
