I really like the idea of new Vertigo number ones are a dollar. It
makes me much more inclined to try them out. Of course the sudden
influx of Greek mythology with modern sensibilities seems to be
ubiquitous nowadays, what with this, Olympus and the stories in Wonder
Woman and Hercules. Of course, they all take pretty different routes in
their stories, but it seemed worth mentioning.
I've been a huge fan of Milligan's for a good ling while and have made my online alias an homage to his best work, and this book was pretty solid.
I took an ancient mythology and an introduction to drama in college so I'm familiar with the stories being retold here.
I really enjoyed the Oedipus retelling here as it seemed very believable in a modern context. That being said, I was kind of hoping for a little more development.
I'm not fan of decompression, but I think it could have greatly helped alleviate the clutter this book felt of having no less than 3 epics crammed into one issue.
The art was pretty good. It didn't have too much by way of memorable layouts or mind blowing scenes, except again with Eddy and the variant on the eyes.
I liked this book, and will be back, but it has pacing issues.

I didn’t pick this up but I will when I go in on Wednesday. What were the other two retellings in this first issue?
Cassandra and The Furies
