A workmanlike (if rushed) finish to this series. Great Ten #9 (all of a sudden of 9, not 10) capped of a strange an interesting series. It was refreshing to read a book where all of the heroes were not “Americanized”. Many of the characters in this series would seem strange to westerners – as many were pro-Communist heroes. Really! Not just Americans living somewhere else.

The plot was okay, but the characterizations and origin stories is what made this a really cool series. It’s a shame that DC couldn’t hold out for the final issue – and really let the writer and artist have the final confrontation between the Robot Army and the Great Ten – instead of giving us that fight on a single page. At least, the team stuck to their guns and spent issue 9 focusing on the two final characters to be spotlighted Red Socialist Guardsman and Mother of Champions (who has the craziest super power of all time!)

Let’s hope that the TEN hang out in the DCU.
