This series has been a one of my favorite things to read from DC lately. I love the Bat family, and especially like to see how they interact and play off one another. This series has allowed us to see that, and has taken Batman out of the focus most of the time to highlight his other family members. Here we see Huntress and Batgirl join the fray, along with Wildcat. Also, we find out what happened to Nightwing, and see the finale of the gang war between Tobias and Penguin. It was a issue stuffed to the gills with story. While it left little room for character development for most of the characters, it did very well with the few individuals focused on in this issue. The teason behind Penguin and Whale's peace is great, and sets up the conflict for the rest of the series.
MAJOR SPOILER!!!!
At the end Batman is finally brought back in, and the way it is done makes you expect a major impact from him. I love how he was kept behind the scenes or as Matches Malone until now. It makes it feel like a major event now that Batman is officially involved and in costume.
END SPOILER
Jim Calafiore is one of my all-time favorite artists, and he doesn't disappoint here. I love his take on the Batman character's, and the big action panels he drew in this issue.
This issue was just awesome all around. It continues our exploration of the Gotham characters, and really shows how strong the relationships between the cities heroes is.
