Previously dismissed as nothing more than cheesecake knockoff of Wonder Woman, the new creative team has given Glory a complete overhaul. Ross Campbell has ditched Glory’s slim waistline and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit poses, in order to “beef up” this Amazon princess and make her look more like a badass female version of Conan the Barbarian.

Writer Joe Keatinge has quickly found a balance between blood dripping action sequences and strong character development in order to tell the story. Keatinge has also managed to leave readers on the edge of their seats and clamoring for the next issue with cliff hanger endings in both issues #23 and #24 that are reminiscent of the more powerful issues of The Walking Dead or Scalped. Keatinge is building to an epic showdown between Glory and her father Lord Silverfall. In this issue readers are given a taste of the impending battle to come in the form of a flashback of Glory beating her father to a bloody pulp, and it looks amazing.

Throw out whatever preconceived notions you have for what a Rob Liefeld or Extreme book is going to be, because Glory is already one of the biggest surprises of 2012. Liefeld was smart enough to carefully select creators that were ready to take the reins of his creations and run wild with them. Keatinge and Campbell’s re-launch of Glory is giving readers a reason to care about this Amazon princess again.
