There are a lot of very talented women in the comic book industry, and it’s a damn shame that this is how Marvel has chosen to highlight them.  The first page looks very pretty, but replace all the dialog with “Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! BARF!” and it has roughly the same effect. Story: 1, Art: 5

The Jill Thompson Inhumans story was silly, but in a good way.  Story: 3, Art 5

I don’t even want to discuss the next story.  Why would you try and promote women in comics and make the stories all be about caring for pets and getting your hair done?  Story: 1, Art: 5

The Stephanie Buscema F4/Doom story was a perfect little two page story nugget.  Chamomille?  Story: 5, Art 3

Faith Erin Hicks’s story that followed was cute, but I have no idea who those characters are supposed to be.  Story: 3, Art: 4

Abby Denson & Emma Vieceli’s superhero personal ads were fun, but seemed more like ideas someone would post on their blog rather than something that needs to be in a comic. Story: 2, Art: 4

Christine Boylan & Cynthis Martin’s Dr. Strange story was the best story of the lot.  The only one that showcased the writer’s talent  (The Buscema story I gave the 5 to was perfect for what it was, but wasn’t a testament to great writing.).  I’ve never been into Dr. Strange stories, but if they were all six page complete stories like this one, I might read them more often.  Story: 5, Art: 5

Overall, I’m just incredibly disappointed that Marvel made Girl Comics, and not Women Comics.  The mostly formidable art on this book suffered for being focused on “girly” things.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 5 - Excellent
