This is my favorite type of story IDW is doing with GI Joe right now — in-depth intrigue within Cobra, fleshing it out as an organization with constituent people, and in so doing humanizing Vipers and snake leadership alike. Any chance to get a peek into the hierarchy of Cobra beneath the Commander is a joy, and Dave Lapham nails the story of Viper Michael Monk and his laborious ascension within the vile ranks. Pick of the week material, fer shure.

Story: 5 - Excellent
