The reason I love this series is because it makes Cobra a legitimate threat. Its hard to care about GI Joes fight against these guys if anyone outside the inner circle of Destro, Baroness, and Storm Shadow are depicted as a bunch of bumblers who just happened to get their hands on some death rays. And if this arc shows us anything its that those mid level Cobra oppretives are just as dangerous if not more so. From Serpenator to Croc Master and Skull Buster, these are some scary MotherF*****’s! Gage and Costa also show how this kind of evil can break down a fundamentally good (if flawed) man like scoop. I honestly did not see the end of this issue coming, since I’m still used to a reletively happy ending. but that is’nt Cobra’s MO, an as such this issue chilled me to the bone.

  1. Great review! I totally feel the same. I watched GI Joe when I was a kid and it always bothered me that the bad guys were losers which took away from GI Joe. I am looking forward to the next issue when Fuso comes back.

  2. And we get Cobra Commander rocking a sweet turtleneck.
