When Generation Hope appeared on my pull I wasn’t sure completely how I was going to feel about book, especially after coming off a poor arc in Uncanny X-Men which failed at hooking and getting me real interested in these characters. None the less I enjoy a fair amount of Gillen’s stuff so it was worth checking out the first issue. Well after reading through the issue Gillen also seemed to also failed to get me interested in these characters, they’re personalities are very similar beyond small differences. In fact, I cannot even recall any the characters names beyond Hope since they mention it only once in the book and the only reason I recall Hope was because her importance was pounded in my head the past couple of years. While the characters seem less interesting Gillen did a good job setting up and executing the plot, right from the get go after a few pages of dialogue we are thrown into the fray. Even the supposed reveal at the end didn’t get me riled up only me think I could be watching a fantastic movie that it’s obviously making reference to (If you seen it you know what I’m talking about). As for the art goes I really did enjoy the art in this book, it’s very expressive and I really got what the characters were feeling from panel to panel. It’s a style that really does fit more a more younger generation of mutants. Overall I feel the story failed to get me hook me into the book and I probably won’t be returning for the next issue.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good
