I wish I could review the two halves of G.I. COMBAT separately. “The War That Time Forgot” pleases me somewhat, though perhaps this chapter does little to advance the story, which at this stage it NEEDS. Away from much technology and such, though, the art works better, showing off some nice-looking (and partially feathered!) dinosaurs. This story is one I’d still read for at least a little while, if only to see if it picks up after these initial growing pains.

But “The Unknown Soldier”…I just find this story unattractive to look at and intolerably dull; it just seems so generic to me at this point, and what little it does is done so much better in so many other titles (well, maybe not that many, since there aren’t loads of military comics on the stands, but you get the idea).

Unfortunately, “The War That Time Forgot” has failed to really make good on its premise, though it’s still early, and so it’s hard to rationalize buying this book for a story that might be to my liking in the long run when the other one is just so very far from anything I enjoy.

  1. I second you on the TWTTF…boring thus far. As for UK, I’ll give it another issue but I’m not optimistic. I think they really screwed up on that one (no spoilers for those who haven’t read it yet).
