Ennis’ reputation preceeds him. From listening to hundreds of ifanboy podcasts, recurring themes is that “walking dead is miraculously good”, “it’s hot when it’s time to podcast” and “it’s a garth ennis book”. Yes there will be cursing, it will be violent and it will be good read. This books does not disappoint both as an Ennis product and as a war story in the Marvel multiverse.

Commont spianage tropes are present, there is beurocracy, there is action and there is sensualization. The dialogue is strong telling us what the characters are and the shows us who they are. There is a certain retro-ness to this book and the color really brings this out as well. As with my previous reviews, i just jumped right into this series and i pleasantly welcomed it as a stand-alone story. If there is anything that i disliked its that i didn’t feel like picking up the next issue. i may go back to reading the first one but i didn’t get enough “pull” to read a third one. I have been wrong before so i’ll still give it a chance after reading the first issue.

Sometimes, being a stand-alone issue is very very good for many readers but what i experienced here made me think that sometimes if it hits that sweet spot you may be too satisfied to come back for more. Maybe it’s just me but i know thats what i felt.
