The Flashpoint Wonder Woman and Emperor Aquaman books have basically been telling the same story but from different perspectives. Each adds a little more information to the bigger story of the war between the Amazons and the Atlanteans. In “Wonder Woman and the Furies” #2 we do get some new information but it’s mostly a book that relays things we’ve already figured out.

Abnett and Lanning handle the writing in an issue tha feels more like CliffsNotes than storytelling. It’s a decent story but it never stays in one place long enough to develop. The frantic pace isn’t particularly bad but it does feel rushed. I know it’s due to the limited time and space they have been given but it seems like alot of potential was left on the table. There are some cool action sequences and the final issue is set up to be a good one. And as someone who is really enjoying this war story in the backdrop of Flashpoint, I found entertainment here. But it did feel as though the writers were trying to speed through enough story to set up the showdown in the final issue.

Agustin Padilla’s pencils are pretty inconsistent. Some panels have a clean almost classic look to them. Other panel’s look plain and lack the detail of the first book. The art almost feels as rushed as the story. There’s little here that would qualify as horrible but even less that would qualify as great.

Again, this feels like a catch up issue that’s just setting up the pieces for the final showdown. I did have some fun with the issue and I’m certainly picking up the final book. But I’m hoping for a solid finale and more stable art to give it the ending it deserves.
