Of all the Flashpoint tie-ins, this was one of the ones I was most looking forward to. The Outsider semmed to be an enigmatic, powerful figure in the new universe. Who was this mystery man with a nice suit and a skin condition who apparently rules over India? Well, we got our answer, and it did not disappoint.

Michael Desai, superpowered orphan turned trillionaire corporate mogul, comes across very well in this first issue. He’s written as a quick-witted, confident, Machiavellian businessman, sort of like Lex Luthor with super strength, and it makes for a very interesting character. The main flaw in the story is that it’s only tangentially related to the Aqua-Wonder War. Still, there’s something about a badass in an expensive suit that just seems cool.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. Don’t forget the invulnerability too!  (and maybe the ability to create gigantic vortexes(vortices?)

  2. I’ll see if this one’s still in the store…
